Uttapam is a popular South Indian dish and is often enjoyed as a healthy breakfast and snack. To make the perfectly fermented batter every time, here are some expert tips you can follow.

Rice To Dal Ratio

To make the perfect uttapam, make the batter by using rice and urad dal in a ratio of 3:1.

Ferment The Batter

Before cooking the uttapam, let the batter ferment for at least six hours.

Grind The Mixture

After the batter is fermented, grind the mixture coarsely till it’s smooth and dense.

Add Methi Leaves

Adding some chopped methi leaves balances the subtle sweet flavour of the uttapam.

Blend In Pulses

Instead of blending at full speed, do it in pulses to incorporate air into the batter, making it light.

Let The Batter Rest

Once ready, let the batter rest for about 15 minutes before cooking the uttapam.
