4 cups of rice 1 cup of whole urad dal Salt to taste Water as needed
Soak your rice and urad dal in separate bowls for 6-10 hours.
In a blender or wet grinder, add the soaked urad dal. Add some water. Grind it into a paste.
Pour it into an airtight container and set aside.
Add the rice to the same blender or wet grinder. Blend it into a very smooth paste.
Add the rice paste into the same airtight container as the urad dal paste. Add salt to the batter. Mix it with your hand.
Cover the container and leave it to ferment for 10-12 hours. Once the batter is fermented, refrigerate it.
When making dosas using the batter, mix it once with a spoon. Serve crispy dosas with coconut chutney and sambhar.
