When you are baking bread, rising is important. It is proof of impeccable baking skills and the softness of the interior. There are a few things that you need to be wary of during the preparation process. This short guide will help you.
Make sure the yeast you add is active. Add yeast to warm water and sprinkle sugar. If foams develop, it's proof that it is active.
The temperature of the water should be 40-46°C to activate the yeast. Hot water will kill it, and cold water will make no difference.
Kneading thoroughly allows the gluten to develop and adds elasticity. It gives a good rise to the bread.
After kneading, let the dough rest in a warm corner of your kitchen. Yeast thrives in warm temperatures. Don’t forget to grease the dough beforehand.
You have got the perfect rise when the dough doubles in size. Knead it again and allow it to rise for the second time.
When the dough is allowed to rise, cover the dough with a plastic wrap to prevent it from drying. Oiling also helps with it.
When the dough is ready, bake it. Over-proofing can ruin the texture of the bread despite doing everything right.
