This One-Pot Mac And Cheese Is Peak Weekend Comfort Food

Creamy mac and cheese is the kind of comfort meal that instantly makes the weekends feel slow and much better. Creamy, cheesy and restaurant-style without being too complex, this easy pasta recipe is perfect for movie nights, evening cravings or cosy homemade snack platters.

Ingredients

2 cups macaroni pasta 2 tbsp butter 2 tbsp all-purpose flour 2 cups milk 1½ cups grated cheese ½ tsp black pepper Salt to taste ½ tsp chilli flakes 1 tbsp oregano ¼ cup breadcrumbs (optional)

Step 1

Cook the macaroni pasta in salted boiling water until it turns soft but not mushy. 

Step 2

In a pan, melt butter, then add in the all-purpose flour while mixing it constantly to make a smooth, lump-free base.

Step 3

To this, now pour milk into the pan while whisking continually until the sauce gets a bit dense consistency.

Step 4

Add in the grated cheese, black pepper, chilli flakes and oregano to the sauce.

Step 5

Finally, add the boiled macaroni to the pan and mix it properly so that every piece gets coated with the sauce.

Step 6

Top it up with some breadcrumbs or some extra cheese if you like it to be more cheesy, then enjoy it hot.
