Raita is a staple in Indian meals, valued for its cooling and digestive qualities. This version uses banana and raisins for natural sweetness, making it especially suitable for warm weather or fasting days. With no cooking required, it comes together quickly while still offering probiotics from yoghurt.
1 cup thick yoghurt 1 ripe banana, sliced 2 tablespoons raisins ½ teaspoon roasted cumin powder A pinch of cardamom powder optional Salt or a small amount of sugar
Whisk yoghurt until smooth and creamy.
Add banana slices and raisins, mixing gently.
Stir in cumin powder and cardamom if using. Adjust seasoning to taste.
Chill briefly before serving for best flavour.
