This Eggless French Toast Feels Like A Café Breakfast At Home

Eggless French toast is proof that café-style breakfasts do not always require complicated ingredients for it to be satisfying. Crispy on the outside, soft from within and lightly sweet, this eggless works beautifully for busy mornings, lazy weekend breakfasts or as an evening snack to pair with chai.

Ingredients

4 bread slices ½ cup milk 3 tbsp custard powder 1 tbsp sugar or honey ½ tsp cinnamon powder 1 tsp vanilla essence 1 tbsp butter or ghee Fresh fruits or maple syrup for topping

Step 1

In a bowl, whisk milk, custard powder, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla to make a smooth, lump-free batter.

Step 2

Take a flat pan and place it on medium heat, and lightly grease it with butter or ghee.

Step 3

Dip each bread slice into the batter on both sides. Do not over-soak, as the bread may tear while cooking in the pan.

Step 4

Place the coated bread carefully on the hot pan and then cook it slowly until it turns golden, with crisp edges appearing while the inside remains soft.

Step 5

Flip it gently and cook on the other side as well for a minute. Add tiny butter drops around the edges to get that rich café-style flavour and texture.

Step 6

Serve it warm by topping with banana slices, berries, honey or chocolate drizzle. You can also add colourful fruits and peanut butter to make it feel even better.
