Amongst the popularity of coffee-based cocktails, the espresso martini reigns supreme—for its depth of flavour as well as technique-forward finesse. Perfecting the cocktail at home only involves understanding a few fundamentals which make the drink an impressive recipe to include in one’s repertoire.
30 ml freshly brewed espresso 60 ml vodka 30 ml coffee liqueur (optional) 15 ml simple syrup Ice cubes Finely ground coffee, for garnish
Add the cooled espresso, vodka, coffee liqueur and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker without ice.
Shake the ingredients vigorously to combine for 15-20 seconds before adding some ice cubes.
Shake further for 10-15 seconds before straining into a chilled martini glass.
Dust some coffee powder on top of the cocktail foam as garnish before serving immediately.
