Contrary to their fancy appearance, palmier cookies are a French pastry classic made using puff pastry and a gentle sprinkle of sugar. What makes these flaky, buttery confections approachable and unique is the use of minimal ingredients—ideal for amateur bakers or those interested in a quick baking recipe.
1 store-bought puff pastry sheet 1 egg ½ cup sugar
Thaw the frozen pastry dough before spreading it out on a floured surface and rolling it out to extend it slightly.
Sprinkle as much sugar as preferred before folding the pastry dough from both ends towards the centre and cutting it into ¼-inch thick pieces.
Place each piece sideways onto a lined baking tray before coating them with egg wash, made by whisking the egg.
Bake them at 180°C for 10-15 minutes, until they appear golden-brown and turn flaky crisp.
Transfer them to a cooling rack and serve them as an accompaniment to a cup of tea or coffee.
