Tangy Homemade Tamarind Rice Recipe To Try In Summers

Try making tamarind rice at home, which is a tangy, flavourful South Indian classic, for a quick, mouthwatering meal that perfectly goes with papad and raita.

Ingredients

2 cups cooked rice 2 tbsp tamarind pulp 1 tbsp oil 1/2 tsp mustard seeds 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 2 dry red chillies 1 tbsp peanuts 1 tsp chana dal 1 tsp urad dal 1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing) 8-10 curry leaves 1/2 tsp jaggery (optional) Salt to taste

Step 1

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, red chillies, curry leaves, asafoetida, chana dal, urad dal, peanuts and sauté them until golden.

Step 2

Add tamarind pulp, turmeric, jaggery, salt and let it cook for 5-7 minutes until the mixture thickens.

Step 3

Now, add cooked rice to the tamarind mixture and mix gently to coat evenly.

Step 4

Enjoy the tangy tamarind rice with papad or raita
