Weekends are meant for slow, satisfying meals, and malai paneer fits perfectly into this occasion. This creamy, a bit spicy dish feels indulgent but is equally easy to make, making it perfect for a relaxed dinner at home.

Ingredients

250 grams paneer (cubed) 1 cup fresh cream ½ cup milk 2 onions (finely chopped) 2 tomatoes (pureed) 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste 1 tsp green chilli paste 1 tsp garam masala ½ tsp black pepper 1 tbsp butter 1 tbsp oil Salt to taste Fresh coriander for garnish

Step 1

In a pan, heat oil or butter and add chopped onions to it. Cook on medium flame until it turns soft and a bit golden.

Step 2

To this, now add ginger-garlic paste and green chilli paste. Sauté for a short span until the raw smell vanishes and the mixture becomes fragrant.

Step 3

Now, pour in the tomato puree and cook on a low flame until it thickens a bit and the oil begins to get separated from the sides of the pan.

Step 4

Now, add milk and fresh cream to this and stir gently to mix it. Keep the flame low so that it does not curdle and have a smooth, rich texture.

Step 5

Add paneer cubes, garam masala, black pepper, and salt to this base. Mix it gently and let it simmer for a few minutes on a low flame so that the paneer absorbs the flavours.

Step 6

Switch off the flame and garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with naan or roti.
