Many people avoid karela because it tastes bitter. However, if you know how to make it, you will fall in love with the dish. Stuffed karela is a delightful addition to any desi spread. It can be refrigerated and enjoyed for 4-6 days. Check out the recipe.

Ingredients

5-6 hollow karela Salt to taste 2-3 tbsp oil 1 tsp sugar ½ tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp red chilli powder 2 tsp coriander powder 1 tsp fennel powder ¼ tsp garam masala 1 tsp dry mango powder

Step 1

Wash kerala and make a cut in the middle. Take out the inside and immerse them in salty water for a couple of hours.

Step 2

Meanwhile, mix all the powdered spices, sugar, and salt to taste. Add a tablespoon of mustard oil.

Step 3

Pat dry karela with a paper towel after draining salty water and rinsing them.

Step 4

Stuff them with the spice blend nicely. It is okay if you don’t get the clean cut.

Step 5

Tie thread around karela to ensure spices don’t ooze out while cooking.

Step 6

Saute karela in oil until the crust is crispy. Remove the thread and enjoy.
