Street style chowmein is a popular Indo-Chinese dish made with stir-fried noodles, vegetables, and sauces that give it a spicy, smoky flavour. It’s a simple comfort food often served at roadside stalls and enjoyed hot.
200g noodles (boiled) 1 onion (sliced) 1 capsicum (sliced) 1 carrot (julienned) ½ cup cabbage (shredded) 2–3 green chillies (slit) 1 tbsp soy sauce 1 tbsp tomato ketchup 1 tsp chilli sauce ½ tsp vinegar 1 tsp black pepper Salt to taste 2 tbsp oil
Heat oil in a wok, add green chillies and sliced onions. Stir-fry on high flame for 1 minute.
Add capsicum, carrot, and cabbage. Stir-fry on high flame for 2–3 minutes.
Add boiled noodles, soy sauce, chilli sauce, ketchup, vinegar, salt, and pepper. Toss everything on high heat until well combined.
Serve hot with extra chilli sauce or ketchup.
