Steamed Chicken Momos To Enjoy At Home On A Cold Evening

A plate of hot momos served with a spicy chutney is an ideal snack or meal—depending on the kind of supper one seeks. This easy chicken momo recipe is perfect to recreate within the comfort of your kitchen, and can be steamed, pan-fried or deep fried depending on the mood.

INGREDIENTS

250 grams minced chicken 1 small onion, finely chopped 3-4 spring onions, sliced thinly 1 tablespoon grated ginger 5-6 cloves garlic, minced ½ teaspoon garam masala ½ teaspoon coriander powder ½ teaspoon red chilli powder 1 pinch cinnamon powder 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 20-25 readymade dumpling wrappers Salt, to taste Oil, for greasing

STEP 1

Heat the vegetable oil in a pan and cook the onions, garlic and ginger until aromatic and translucent.

STEP 2

Add the spice powders followed by the minced chicken and cook until it changes colour slightly.

STEP 3

Season with some salt before turning off the flame and adding in the spring onions to mix well.

STEP 4

Cool slightly while bringing some water in a steamer to boil.

STEP 5

Spoon the chicken filling into the dumpling wrappers and seal the edges using handmade pleats.

STEP 6

Repeat the process until you have enough before placing them on a greased plate and into the steamer.

STEP 7

Steam for 12-14 minutes and transfer to a serving plate. Serve hot with momo chutney on the side.
