South Indian Tomato Uttapam: Make A Quick And Healthy Breakfast

Be it for a quick breakfast or a healthy snack, uttapam is a quick fix that works well at any time of the day. With chopped tomatoes on top, this South Indian recipe can be whipped up in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

1 cup idli rice 1/4 cup urad dal 1/4 cup chana dal 1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds 1 tomato 1/2 onion Coriander leaves Salt to taste Oil for cooking

Step 1

Take soaked rice, urad dal, chana dal and fenugreek seeds. Grind into a smooth batter.

Step 2

Let the batter ferment till it is fluffy and approximately double in volume.

Step 3

Mix chopped tomatoes, onion, and coriander leaves. Set aside.

Step 4

Heat a tawa and pour a ladleful of batter. Sprinkle the tomato mixture on top.

Step 5

Cook on both sides till golden brown and serve with sambar or chutney.
