The South Indian dish, sweet appe or sweet appam is a delightful snack made with rice flour, jaggery and coconut. These golden bite-sized treats are soft on the inside and crispy on the outside, brimming with authentic flavours.
1 cup rice flour 3/4 cup grated jaggery 1/4 cup grated coconut 1/4 tsp cardamom powder 1 ripe, mashed banana 1/2 cup milk or water Ghee or oil for greasing the pan A pinch baking soda
Mix rice flour, jaggery, coconut and cardamom powder into a batter and let it rest for 15 minutes.
Grease the pan with ghee or oil
Pour the batter into the cavities and flip when they start turning golden in colour.
Serve warm and enjoy!
