Pottukadalai chutney is a simple and delicious South Indian side dish also known as roasted gram chutney. The chutney is loved for its quick preparation and versatility, making it a go-to recipe for breakfast and snack accompaniments.
1 cup pottukadalai (roasted gram) 2 tbsp grated coconut 2 green chillies 1 clove garlic 1 small piece tamarind Salt to taste Water as required For Tempering: 1 tsp mustard seeds 1 tsp urad dal 1 dry red chilli Few curry leaves 1 tsp oil
Blend pottukadalai, grated coconut, green chillies, garlic, tamarind, salt and enough water into a smooth chutney.
Add water as needed to achieve the desired consistency.
Heat oil in a small pan, add mustard seeds, let them splutter, add urad dal, dry chilli, curry leaves and saute.
Pour the tempering over the chutney and mix it well
Pair the pottukadalai chutney with idli or dosa for a flavourful meal.
