Podi masala is a versatile spice mixture in most South Indian pantries. It can be sprinkled on idli or dosa, or used to elevate the flavours of a dish. If you like the mixture and looking to make it at home, here is how you can make it.
½ cup urad dal ¼ cup chana dal 1 tsp salt ¼ cup sesame seeds ¼ tsp hing 1 tbsp cumin seeds 8-10 red chillies 2 garlic cloves 4-5 curry leaves ½ cup dried coconut
Dry roast chana and urad dal until they are crunchy and slightly brown.
Toast sesame seeds, cumin seeds, and red chillies too.
Allow the ingredients to cool off.
Add everything in a mixer jar and turn it into a smooth powder.
Add coconut, curry leaves, and lentils later. Grind the ingredients together.
Podi masala is ready and you can store it in airtight jars.
