Kanda bhaji, also known as vengaya bajji, is a popular South Indian street food. These crispy fritters are the perfect accompaniment to a cup of tea or coffee, especially during the monsoon season.
2 onions, sliced thinly 1 cup besan 1/4 cup rice flour 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds A pinch of baking soda Salt to taste Oil for deep frying
Mix besan, rice flour, red chilli powder, turmeric, cumin seeds, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add water to make a smooth batter.
Slice the onions and coat with the batter. Heat some oil and deep-fry till crispy.
Drain excess oil and serve with your favourite chutney.
