Masala uttapam is a popular South Indian dish made with thick dosa batter topped with a spicy mix of onions, tomatoes, capsicum, and flavourful spices. It’s a wholesome and satisfying meal often enjoyed with coconut chutney and sambar.
2 cups dosa batter (fermented) 1 finely chopped onion 1 finely chopped tomato 1 finely chopped capsicum 2 tbsp grated carrot 2 finely chopped green chillies ½ tsp red chilli powder ¼ tsp turmeric powder 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves Oil as needed Salt to taste
In a bowl, mix all chopped vegetables with red chilli powder, turmeric, and a pinch of salt.
Heat a tawa, pour a ladle of dosa batter and spread lightly for a thick base.
Sprinkle the prepared masala vegetable mix evenly on top and press gently.
Drizzle oil around the edges and cook on medium flame till the bottom turns golden brown.
Flip carefully, cook for 1-2 minutes, and serve hot with chutney or sambar.
