Appe, the bite-sized, fluffy treats are perfect to serve for a quick breakfast, a mid-meal munchie, or even as a snack. Made with urad dal, rice, and a blend of spices, why don’t you try to make appe at home?
1 cup rice 1/4 cup urad dal 1/4 cup fenugreek seeds 1/4 cup grated coconut 1 green chilli, finely chopped 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon cumin powder Salt to taste Water as needed
Rinse and soak rice, urad dal, and fenugreek seeds for at least 5 hours.
Add grated coconut, green chilli, haldi, cumin powder, and salt. Grind to get a smooth batter.
Add water to adjust consistency. Let the batter ferment.
Heat the appe pan or mould and pour in the batter.
Cook till the appe are golden brown. Serve with sambar or coconut chutney.
