When you’re looking for a quick breakfast or a light evening snack, this cheela made with sooji and besan is filling and takes very little effort. It is best enjoyed hot with green chutney or curd on the side.
½ cup besan (gram flour) ½ cup sooji (semolina) ½ cup curd 1 onion (finely chopped) 1 tomato (finely chopped) 1 green chilli (finely chopped) A few coriander leaves (chopped) ½ tsp ajwain (carom seeds) ¼ tsp turmeric powder Salt to taste Water as needed Oil or ghee for cooking
In a mixing bowl, combine besan, sooji, and curd. Stir in water gradually to make a smooth batter and let it rest for 10 minutes.
Add the chopped onion, tomato, green chilli, coriander leaves, turmeric powder, ajwain, and salt. Mix everything properly.
Heat a tawa or non-stick pan and drizzle a few drops of oil. Pour a ladleful of batter and spread it lightly to form a cheela.
Cook on one side till golden, then flip and cook the other side. Press gently so it cooks evenly.
Serve hot with green chutney or a little ketchup, depending on your taste.
