Dal Pakwan is a beloved Sindhi breakfast, pairing spiced chana dal with crisp, golden pakwan. The dal is cooked until thick and flavourful, while the pakwan adds a crunchy contrast that makes the dish satisfying and celebratory.
1 cup chana dal (soaked for 1 hour) 1 onion (finely chopped) 1 tomato (chopped) 1 tsp cumin seeds ½ tsp turmeric ½ tsp red chilli powder Salt, oil and coriander
Pressure cook the soaked chana dal until soft yet still holding shape.
Heat oil and sauté cumin, onions and tomatoes until aromatic.
Add turmeric, chilli powder, salt and cooked dal, then simmer until slightly thick.
Garnish with coriander and serve with crisp pakwan, onions and green chutney.
