Aloo Jeera is a no-fuss, satvik-friendly dish that works for Shravan fasting days. It is quick to prepare and pairs nicely with kuttu puri, rajgira rotis, or plain curd.
3 medium potatoes (boiled, peeled, cubed) 1½ tsp cumin seeds (jeera) 1 green chilli (chopped) 1 tsp grated ginger ½ tsp black pepper powder Rock salt (sendha namak) to taste 1 tbsp ghee Fresh coriander (for garnish) Lemon juice (optional)
Heat ghee in a kadhai or thick pan. Add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle.
Add grated ginger and green chilli. Sauté it lightly for a few seconds till aromatic.
Drop the boiled potato cubes and stir everything well so they get coated with ghee and spices.
Sprinkle black pepper powder and rock salt. Mix again gently. Let it cook for 4–5 minutes on a low flame.
Stir once or twice so the potatoes crisp up a bit and soak in the flavour.
Turn off the heat, garnish with chopped coriander, and add a little lemon juice if you like it tangy.
