Bruschetta comes from central Italy, where toasted bread rubbed with garlic and olive oil was a way to use day-old loaves. Over time, toppings evolved, especially in modern European and American kitchens. Avocado adds a creamy layer while keeping the dish light and fresh. It works well as a starter because it feels elegant without being complicated. Served immediately after assembling, it captures the balance between crisp bread and soft topping.
1 baguette, sliced 2 ripe avocados 1 tbsp lemon juice Salt and black pepper to taste 1 tbsp olive oil 1 small tomato, finely chopped Fresh basil (optional)
Brush bread slices lightly with olive oil and toast until crisp.
