Sawan fasting does not mean you have to give up on your favourite snacks. If you love aloo-chaat, try this vrat-friendly version of it that uses crisp potatoes, tangy lemon, sendha namak and fresh herbs to make a quick snack that feels satisfying in every bite.

Ingredients

3 medium potatoes, boiled 1 tbsp ghee 1 green chilli, finely chopped ½ tsp roasted cumin powder ½ tsp black pepper powder ½ tsp chaat masala (use vrat-friendly, if required) Sendha namak, to taste 1 tbsp lemon juice 1 tbsp fresh coriander, chopped 2 tbsp roasted peanuts, crushed 1 tbsp fresh pomegranate seeds

Step 1

Boil potatoes, let them cool down thoroughly, and then peel them. Now, cut each of them into equal-sized cubes.

Step 2

In a pan, heat ghee and add the potato cubes. Cook them over medium heat until the edges turn perfectly golden and crisp all over.

Step 3

Sprinkle some roasted cumin powder, black pepper and sendha namak on the fried potatoes. Toss spices nicely so that every piece is coated evenly.

Step 4

Switch off the flame and add lemon juice, chopped green chilli and fresh coriander.

Step 5

Serve the prepared aloo chaat in a bowl and top it with crushed roasted peanuts and pomegranate seeds.
