Sawan Somwar Vrat: No-Onion Jeera Aloo Recipe For Your Thali

Sawan Somwar (Mondays falling in the Shravan month) is a holy day where a lot of people observe a fast and avoid eating onions and garlic. For a vrat-friendly sabzi, try this quick and easy jeera aloo recipe.

Ingredients

4-5 potatoes 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 2 green chillies 1/2 teaspoon amchur powder 1/4 teaspoon red chilli powder 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder 1/4 teaspoon garam masala Sendha namak to taste Oil for cooking

Step 1

Boil the potatoes, peel the skin, and chop them into bite-sized pieces.

Step 2

Heat some oil and add cumin seeds and green chillies. Add chopped potato pieces.

Step 3

Mix in turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, and garam masala.

Step 4

Season with amchur powder and sendha namak. Stir well until the potatoes are well coated.

Step 5

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with kuttu ki roti and dahi.
