No upwas is complete without a delicious sweet dish, be it sabudana kheer or sheera; they are a must-have during the fast. Try these quick-to-make, delicious and nourishing sweet dishes for your Sawan Upwas.
These ladoo are soft and made with roasted peanut coarse powder, mixed with melted jaggery. They are shaped into laddus while warm. Peanut-jaggery combo provides instant energy and keeps you full during fasting.
This is a wholesome dessert with rajgira (amaranth) flour, ghee, jaggery, and dry fruits. To make it, roast rajgira flour in ghee, add jaggery syrup and water. Cook till thick, garnish with dry fruits. This is light on the stomach yet rich in nutrients, perfect for vrat days.
Sabudana fheer is creamy and aromatic, made with tapioca pearls, milk, and cardamom. Make this kheer by boiling soaked sabudana in milk, adding sugar and cardamom. Simmer till creamy and pearls turn translucent. This makes for a comforting dessert perfect for Sawan fasting rituals.
This is a quick halwa with mashed bananas, ghee, and jaggery. You can skip adding jaggery, if you want less sweet. This halwa is light on the stomach and thus ideal for instant vrat-friendly indulgence.
These soft barfis are made from grated coconut, cardamom, and jaggery. To make it, cook grated coconut with jaggery until it thickens. Later, spread on a tray, let set, and cut into squares. This is a delightful sweet that’s easy to prepare and completely fast-safe.
