Fasting in Sawan means the food should be mindfully picked. Follow these simple dos and don'ts for meals to pick the right vrat foods, avoid common mistakes and stay energetic throughout the fasting period.

Eat Seasonal Fruits

Pick fruits like bananas, apples, pears, pomegranates and papaya. These seasonal fruits give a boost of energy, keep you hydrated and are also easy to digest.

Avoid Onion And Garlic

Onion and garlic should be avoided during Sawan; following a sattvik diet is recommended. Instead, use ginger, cumin, coriander and fresh herbs to add flavours to your meals.

Choose Vrat-Friendly Grains

Include samak rice, rajgira, kuttu and singhara flour in your diet if you are fasting. These grains keep you full for longer, adhering to the fasting rules.

Don't Rely On Fried Vrat Snacks

Deep-fried snacks and packaged vrat namkeen may rescue your hunger pangs, but they give heaviness. Instead, go for roasted makhana and homemade snacks.

Stay Hydrated

Drink lots of water, coconut water, lemon water or buttermilk. Staying hydrated prevents you from feeling tired and keeps you energised.
