While desserts made with sabudana and makhana take the spotlight during Sawan, you can give your thali a twist by making a ghee-laden halwa. Conclude your Sawan fast on a sweet note with this rich beetroot halwa.
300 grams of beetroot 2 tablespoons ghee 1.5 cups milk ½ cup sugar 10-12 cashew nuts ¼ teaspoon cardamom powder
Rinse the beetroot and finely grate it.
Heat some ghee, fry some cashew nuts, and set them aside.
Cook the grated beetroot for about five minutes, then add milk and let it simmer.
After the mixture thickens, add sugar and cardamom powder and cook till the sugar dissolves.
Once you get a thick halwa, garnish it with roasted cashew nuts and serve.
