Paneer do pyaza is a creamy, comforting curry loved for its use of onions. Make this dhaba-style curry at home that has bold flavours and is perfect to have when mid-week blues hit you.

Ingredients

200g paneer cubes 2 large onions (1 sliced, 1 cubed) 2 tomatoes (pureed) 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste 2 tbsp oil or butter 1 tsp cumin seeds 1 tsp red chilli powder ½ tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp coriander powder ½ tsp garam masala Salt to taste Fresh coriander for garnish ½ cup water

Step 1

Cut paneer into small, equal cubes and soak them in warm water for a short time. Slice one onion thinly and cube the others, and also keep the tomato puree and spices prepared before cooking.

Step 2

In a pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds, then the sliced onions and cook until they turn golden. Add the ginger-garlic paste to this and sauté until the raw smell fades away.

Step 3

Now, pour in the tomato puree to this base, mix everything nicely, and cook until the oil separates. Add the turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powder, and salt and cook until the masala thickens.

Step 4

To the prepared base, add the paneer cubes and cubed onions, then mix gently.

Step 5

Add a little water and let the curry simmer for a few minutes on low flame.

Step 6

Sprinkle some garam masala and fresh chopped coriander on top. Serve it hot with roti, naan, or rice for a hearty meal.
