From salads to sandwiches, lettuce is an essential part of the snack spread. However, purchasing it from the market can be expensive. Why don’t you grow it at your home? Here is the guide.
If you are a beginner, choose loose-leaf varieties. They can be cut near the end, and the plant will flourish again.
Loamy and fertile soil is ideal for growing lettuce. You can add some compost to it to get a good harvest.
A lettuce plant needs adequate sunlight, at least 6-8 hours a day. During peak summer, keep it in a partial shade.
Since lettuce has shallow roots, it needs consistent watering. Don’t wait for the soil to dry completely, but avoid puddles of water.
When you are planting seeds, space them at least 6 inches apart. In a large pot, you can plant 3-4 seeds.
Sow seeds after every 2-3 weeks, so you can enjoy a good harvest. A continuous supply of lettuce is what you need to keep making delicious salads.
Harvest the outer leaves first when they are 4-6 inches long. Snip them with scissors, and you will witness the lower part growing.
