Dal dhokli is a Gujarati flavoured spice meal. The dhokla is a combination of wheat flour and spices, and is dipped in cooked dal. For busy days, this quick and easy recipe is a saviour.
1 cup of wheat flour 1 cup of toor dal 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder 1 tablespoon of red chilli powder 1 tablespoon of cumin seeds 1 tablespoon of garam masala A pinch of asafoetida A few curry leaves 3 dried red chillies A few peanuts 1 tablespoon of lemon juice 2 tablespoons of jaggery Water as required Cooking oil as required
Take a cup of wheat flour and add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, cumin seeds, garam masala, and oil.
Now knead the dough. Add water as required. Let it rest for some time.
For the dal, take a cooker, add 2 tablespoons of oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves, dry chilli powder and peanuts. Cook for a few minutes.
Add the toor dal to it and add some red chilli powder, cumin seeds, salt, lemon juice and jaggery. Cook them together.
Take the dough and make small balls and roll chapati. Cut it into square pieces. Add dhoklas into the boiling dal and mix well. Add a spoonful of garam masala.
Remove from heat. Dal dokhli is ready.
