Making rich caramel sauce at home does not require candy thermometers or complex sugar boiling. This fast two-ingredient method combines soft brown sugar and heavy cream to create a velvety, golden sauce in under five minutes. As the sugar dissolves directly into the warm cream, it creates a thick, glossy emulsion with a deep butterscotch profile. Drizzle it hot over ice cream, pancakes, or iced coffee for an instant dessert upgrade.
1/2 cup soft dark brown sugar 1/2 cup heavy cream (or double cream) Method
Place the dark brown sugar and heavy cream into a small saucepan over medium heat.
Whisk continuously for two to three minutes as the sugar dissolves completely and the liquid comes to a gentle bubble.
Allow the mixture to boil gently for another minute while stirring, watching it thicken into a smooth, glossy sauce.
Remove from heat and let it cool slightly to thicken further before serving.
