Punjabi-Style Kaddu Ka Halwa For A Rich Dessert

Kaddu, aka pumpkins, are not only used to make sabzis and curries, but can also be used to make desserts. To make the Punjabi-style halwa, follow these steps and make kaddu ka halwa.

Ingredients

1 cup grated pumpkin 1 cup milk ½ cup ghee ½ cup sugar ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom A pinch of saffron 2-3 tablespoons chopped nuts for garnish

Step 1

Chop and grate fresh pumpkin. Heat some ghee and saute the pumpkin till it softens.

Step 2

Pour in the milk and cardamom powder. Let it cook for 15-20 minutes till the mixture thickens.

Step 3

Add sugar and stir till it dissolves. Mix in saffron and cook till consistent.

Step 4

Turn off the heat and garnish with chopped nuts. Serve hot.
