Punjabi Kathal Ki Sabzi To Add Jackfruit To Your Diet In A Spicy Way

Kathal, or jackfruit is a healthy summer vegetable that is frequently made in Indian kitchens. Deemed to be a vegetarian’s meat, here is how you can make Punjabi-style spicy kathal ki sabzi.

Ingredients

500 grams kathal 3 tablespoons mustard oil 2 onions 2 tomatoes 3-4 green chillies 5-6 garlic cloves 1 teaspoon turmeric powder 1 teaspoon red chilli powder 1 tablespoon coriander powder 1 teaspoon garam masala 1/4 teaspoon amchur Salt to taste Coriander leaves for garnishing

Step 1

Chop kathal into bite-sized pieces and shallow fry them in a pan. Set them aside once done.

Step 2

Make the tadka by sauteeing finely sliced onions, ginger and garlic paste, and green chillies.

Step 3

Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, and garam masala powder.

Step 4

Mix in chopped tomatoes, amchur powder and salt and cook till the tomatoes are soft.

Step 5

Add the fried kathal pieces and coat them with the masala. Add water to adjust the consistency.

Step 6

Once cooked, garnish with chopped coriander leaves and enjoy a nutritious meal.
