Protein Rich Chocolate Barfi Recipe Without Added Sugar

This barfi is designed as a higher-protein sweet using milk solids rather than sugar syrup. The nutrition comes from khoya and milk powder, which provide protein and calcium, while cocoa and dark chocolate add flavour without increasing sweetness. It works as a small, portion-controlled sweet rather than a heavy dessert.

Ingredients

1 cup fresh khoya (mawa), grated ½ cup milk powder 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder 50 g dark cooking chocolate (no added sugar), chopped 2 tbsp chopped nuts 1 tbsp ghee ½ tsp vanilla essence (optional)

Step 1

Heat ghee and soften khoya on low heat.

Step 2

Add milk powder and cocoa powder and mix evenly.

Step 3

Stir in chocolate until melted and the mixture binds.

Step 4

Fold in nuts, spread in a tray and allow to set.

Step 5

Cut into squares once fully cooled.
