Odia-style prawn curry is a definition of comfort food that does not need you to spend hours in the kitchen. Boasting a red hue, it also comprises diced potatoes and is often enjoyed with rice and flatbread. Here is the recipe.
1 tsp turmeric, sugar 300 gm of prawns 2-3 cloves, cardamoms 1 tsp cumin seeds 1 bay leaf 2 green chillies, onions 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste 1 tsp cumin, chilli powder 1 tsp coriander, garam masala Salt to taste 2 tomatoes, potatoes
Peel and clean prawns. Wash them under tap water to remove all the impurities.
Marinate prawns in a blend of turmeric powder, chilli powder, and salt. Keep them aside for 15 minutes.
Heat oil in a pan and saute potatoes. Keep them aside and saute prawns until golden. Keep them aside too.
Saute onions, cumin, and ginger-garlic paste. Add tomato puree and all the powdered spices.
Once the oil separates, pour some water. Add potatoes and prawns to the curry.
After cooking for 5 minutes, add garam masala and garnish the curry with coriander leaves.
