When summer cravings hit, a chilled glass of strawberry milkshake feels the perfect thing to gulp down. This sugar-free version depends on naturally sweet strawberries and dates, making a creamy, refreshing drink that satisfies cravings for a sweet tooth.
2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped 2 cups chilled milk 4 soft dates, pitted 4-5 ice cubes ½ tsp vanilla extract 1 tbsp chopped almonds (optional) 1 tbsp chopped pistachios (optional)
Thoroughly wash the strawberries, remove the green tops, and chop them roughly.
If the dates feel a bit firm, soak them in warm water for about four to five minutes so that they blend smoothly.
In a blender, add strawberries, soaked dates, chilled milk, vanilla extract, and ice cubes, then blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Taste the milkshake and if the strawberries feel a bit slightly tart, add one extra date and then blend again.
Refrigerate the milkshake for about 10 minutes before serving so that the flavours blend nicely.
Pour the prepared milkshake into a tall glass and then top it up with chopped almonds or pistachios.
