Poha Recipe: Whip Up A Healthy South Indian Breakfast

Poha, made with flattened rice, veggies, and roasted peanuts, is a staple South Indian breakfast. For the days when you need something healthy, light, and quick, you must try this recipe and make poha.

Ingredients

1.5 cups flattened rice 1 tablespoon oil 2 tablespoons roasted peanuts ½ teaspoon mustard seeds 10 curry leaves ¼ cup chopped onion ¼ cup peas ¼ cup chopped tomato ½ teaspoon turmeric powder ¼ teaspoon red chilli powder Salt to taste Lemon juice for garnishing

Step 1

Rinse the flattened rice till they soften a bit, and set them aside.

Step 2

Heat some oil and saute mustard seeds, curry leaves, and chopped onion.

Step 3

Mix in peas, chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, salt, and red chilli powder.

Step 4

When the tomatoes are soft, add rinsed flattened rice and mix well.

Step 5

Cook for about 5 minutes and garnish with roasted peanuts and lemon juice. Serve hot.
