½ cup yellow pigeon peas ¼ cup yellow lentils 2 tbsp oil ½ cup onions, tomatoes 1 tsp ginger, garlic 1 tsp chillies, lime juice 1 tsp coriander, chilli powder ½ tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp salt (or to taste) For Tempering 2 tablespoons ghee 1 tsp cumin seeds, chilli powder ¼ tsp hing 2-3 whole dry red chillies 2 tbsp garlic, coriander leaves
Wash arhar dal and pigeon peas, and soak them in water.
Saute onion, garlic, and ginger until they release aroma. Add tomatoes and spices.
Once the spices release the oil, add arhar dal and pigeon peas.
Pressure cook the ingredients for 3-4 whistles.
Prepare the tempering and pour it over the dal.
Serve the dal with rice, chapati, and vegetables.
