Gujarati fafda is a non-spicy, crunchy snack that goes well with chilli pickles and chai. It is super easy to make and can be your ideal travel partner. Here is how you can replicate the recipe at home.

Ingredients

¼ tsp ajwain 1 cup besan 2 tbsp oil 8-10 peppercorns ¾ tsp salt 3-4 tbsp water A pinch of hing ¼ tsp turmeric powder ⅛ tsp baking soda Oil for deep frying

Step 1

Mix spices with besan in a bowl.

Step 2

Crush the peppercorn and add to the besan mix.

Step 3

Add oil and water, and prepare a non-sticky dough.

Step 4

Leave it for a while. Take a small amount, press it with your thumb, and spread it on a wooden surface.

Step 5

Scrape it off and add it to a kadhai with hot oil.

Step 6

Deep-fry until they are crispy, take them out, and enjoy them with tea.
