Bright citrus notes meet rich milk solids in this orange barfi recipe, creating a mithai that feels festive yet refreshing. Each bite balances sweetness with gentle tang, making it a standout dessert for celebrations or gifting.
2 cups khoya (mawa) ½ cup fresh orange juice 1 tsp orange zest ¾ cup sugar 2 tbsp milk powder 1 tbsp ghee ¼ tsp cardamom powder 10 chopped pistachios
Heat the ghee in a heavy pan over a low flame, then crumble the khoya into it and stir continuously until soft and slightly glossy.
Add sugar and orange juice; cook while stirring so the mixture thickens without sticking to the pan.
Mix in milk powder, orange zest, and cardamom powder, cooking until it forms a thick dough-like consistency.
Transfer onto a greased tray and flatten evenly using a spatula or parchment paper.
Sprinkle pistachios, press lightly, allow to cool, then cut into neat squares once set.
