Onam, the harvest festival of Kerala, features a grand feast called Onam Sadhya. To add something sweet to the elaborate spread, you can make a serving of rich banana halwa with this traditional recipe.
5-6 ripe bananas 1 cup jaggery 1/4 cup ghee 1/4 tsp cardamom powder 1/4 cup cashew nuts 1/4 cup raisins
Peel the bananas and chop them into small pieces.
Heat some ghee and add the banana pieces. Keep stirring till the banana caramelises.
Add jaggery and mix till the halwa thickens.
Stir in the cardamom powder, cashew nuts, and raisins.
Remove the heat and let the halwa cool. Serve warm or cold as per your preference.
