Buttery, sweet with a hint of saltiness, butter cookies make for the perfect edible gifts to share with loved ones during the holiday season. Bake a batch or two of these fresh confections to enjoy with a hot chocolate or coffee.
2.5 cups all-purpose flour, sifted 1 cup butter, softened ¾ cup caster sugar 3 tablespoon granular sugar ¼ teaspoon salt
Preheat the oven to 150°C while lining baking trays with parchment paper and setting aside.
Use an electric whisk to cream the butter, sugar and salt until soft and homogenous for 2-3 minutes before adding in the sifted flour.
Fold it with the butter-sugar mixture using a spatula into a soft dough before transferring to a well-floured surface.
Roll into a ¼-inch thick sheet before using cookie cutters to cut-out fun shapes and placing on the parchment-lined trays.
Bake for 15 minutes if small and 25 minutes if large in size before taking them out and cooling on the tray for 5 minutes.
Transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely before arranging into boxes and sharing.
