Unlike the traditional rava upma, oats upma boasts a higher fibre content and lower glycemic index. Made with assorted vegetables, rolled oats, and some spices, follow this recipe to make oats upma.
1 cup rolled oats 1 tbsp oil 1 tsp mustard seeds 1 tsp urad dal 1 tsp chana dal 8-10 curry leaves 1-2 green chillies 1 small onion 1/4 cup carrot 1/4 cup green peas 1/4 tsp haldi Salt to taste 2 cups water 1 tsp lemon juice Coriander leaves for garnish
Dry-roast the oats for a couple of minutes. Set aside.
Heat some oil and splutter mustard seeds. Add urad dal, chana dal, curry leaves, and green chillies.
Add chopped onions, carrots, peas, haldi, and salt. Cook for 5 minutes.
Pour in water and bring to a boil. Add roasted oats and mix well. Cook on a low flame.
Garnish with coriander leaves and sprinkle some lemon juice. Serve hot.
