Oats Idli: South Indian Breakfast Made Fibre-Rich

Idli is mostly made with lentil-rice batter or rava, but to make them fibre-rich, you can use oats. The ingredient is known for helping people manage their blood sugar levels and aid in weight management. Check out the recipe.

Ingredients

½ cup rava 1 cup oats 1 cup water ½ tsp salt, fruit salt ½ tbsp lemon juice, oil ¼ cup curd 2 tbsp carrot, coriander 4 tbsp water ½ tsp mustard, cumin seeds ½ tsp ginger 1 tsp urad dal A pinch of hing 5-6 curry leaves

Step 1

Blend oats into a coarse powder. Keep it aside.

Step 2

Prepare the tempering of mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing, curry leaves, and urad dal.

Step 3

Roast oats in it and turn off the flame. 

Step 4

Add water, curd, rava, fruit salt, and salt into the pan.

Step 5

When the batter is smooth, add ginger, carrot, lemon juice, and coriander leaves.

Step 6

Pour the batter into greased idli moulds and cook for 15-20 minutes. Enjoy idli with coconut chutney.
