Oats chilla is a quick, everyday breakfast that combines fibre with slow-digesting carbohydrates, making it both filling and easy on the stomach. It is especially useful on busy mornings, as the batter comes together quickly and cooks fast on a flat pan, without needing deep frying or long preparation.
1 cup quick cooking oats ¼ cup onion, finely chopped 2 tbsp grated carrot 1 green chilli, finely chopped ½ tsp cumin seeds Salt to taste ¾ to 1 cup water 1 tsp oil
Grind oats into a coarse flour and transfer to a bowl.
Add onion, carrot, chilli, cumin and salt, then mix with water to form a batter.
Heat a non-stick pan, grease lightly and spread batter thinly.
Cook on medium heat until golden on both sides.
Serve hot with chutney or curd.
