Green gram curry is also known as moong dal curry, is a nutritious and flavourful dish made with fresh moong, which is a staple in Indian households, often enjoyed with steamed rice, roti or paratha. Click to find out about the recipe
1 cup green gram (whole moong, soaked for 6–8 hours) 2 tbsp oil or ghee 1 tsp mustard seeds 1 tsp cumin seeds 8-10 curry leaves 1 finely chopped onion 2 slit green chillies 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste 1 finely chopped tomato ½ tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp red chilli powder 1 tsp coriander powder ½ tsp garam masala 2 cups water Salt to taste 1 tbsp lemon juice 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
Rinse green gram and pressure cook with water until soft.
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves and let them crackle.
Saute chopped onions until golden, add ginger garlic paste, then stir in turmeric, red chilli powder, and coriander powder.
Add chopped tomatoes, cook until soft, then mix in the cooked green gram with some water for the desired consistency.
Add salt, garam masala, simmer for 5-7 minutes, garnish with fresh coriander and then serve
