Skip packaged chips for your Sawan fast and make a fresh batch of these banana chips at home instead. These air fryer banana chips use no oil and are prepared by thinly slicing raw bananas, making them a crunchy homemade vrat snack that's worth replacing packaged ones.

Ingredients

2 raw bananas 1–2 tbsp oil Sendha namak, to taste ½ tsp black pepper powder ½ tsp roasted cumin powder ¼ tsp red chilli powder, optional Oil, for frying

Step 1

Peel the raw bananas and slice them thinly. Cut the slices evenly so that they get cooked uniformly and have a perfect crisp texture.

Step 2

Take a bowl of chilled water, add some lemon juice to it and put the banana slices in it for a few minutes to remove extra starch before frying.

Step 3

Drain and pat dry the slices thoroughly using tissue paper or a clean kitchen towel. Removing extra moisture is important to get the crispness.

Step 4

Toss the dried slices with sendha namak, cumin and a bit of pepper powder. Arrange them in a single layer and air fry at 160°C for 12 to 15 minutes.

Step 5

Flip halfway through, as thin slices get browned quickly. Once prepared, let the banana chips cool down and then store in an airtight jar.
