This vanilla cake recipe is soft, moist, and perfect for beginners. Made using basic pantry staples, this easy vanilla sponge cake is ideal for birthdays, tea-time, or simple celebrations. The light crumb and classic flavour make it a timeless dessert.
1½ cups all-purpose flour 1 cup powdered sugar ½ cup milk ½ cup vegetable oil 2 eggs 1½ tsp baking powder 1 tsp vanilla essence ¼ tsp salt
Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a cake tin with butter and parchment paper.
Whisk eggs and sugar until pale, fluffy, and slightly thick in texture.
Add oil, milk, and vanilla essence, mixing gently until well combined.
Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together, then fold into the wet mixture without overmixing.
Pour batter into the tin and bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely before slicing.
